• ##Switching Between Languages##

In Athena how do i switch between different languages like English to French?

With the command "De-Activate Athena objects", all athena objects are de-activated when loaded into another drawing, when importing that drawing back into athena use "Activate Athena objects" and the athena objects can then be modified.

  • Opening Athena Drawings In Plain Autocad Drawings

In Athena i draw athena objects, when i open them up in a version of Autocad without athena they do not show up correctly, how can i fix this?

With the command "De-Activate Athena objects", all athena objects are de-activated when loaded into another drawing, when importing that drawing back into athena use "Activate Athena objects" and the athena objects can then be modified.

  • Permanently saving settings in AutoCAD

In AutoCAD I make certain settings (e.g. object snapping or cross-hair settings) and they are lost when creating a new drawing or with a restart of ATHENA. How can I prevent this?

With the command "Manage system variables" (ATH_SYSVAR), which is present in the tool bar "ATHENA standard function bar", you can save or load the current AutoCAD settings. So you are also able at any time to load you "normal" settings, e.g. for editing someone else's drawing. It is recommended that a new drawing is started (then the currently saved settings are loaded), then your settings adapted and finally the settings saved with the command ATH_SYSVAR. This ensures that you do not unintentionally save settings which you do not want to save.

  • Layerfilters in the drawing?

My drawing covers a lot of storage space although it only contains a few objects. Trying to clean up the drawing did not cause anything. What could be the reason?

Perhaps there are Layerfilter in the drawing which increase the file size needlessly. Removing those layer filters ist very awkwardly up to AutoCAD version 2004. Here the Lisp tool "Layerfilter" helps whith enabling you to clean up a drawing completely from all layer filters. The file size of the drawing can be reduced dramatically by cleaning it up this way. The tool can be loaded with the AutoCAD command APPLOAD. Then you enter "DELFIL" or "RemLayerfilters" in the command line and all layer filters in the drawing are deleted.

  • Error message ##Dongle wrong or missing## appears by starting the program.

It seems as if ATHENA cannot find the USB key. The error message "Dongle wrong or missing" appears by starting the program.

If you want to use ATHENA with a USB key, you primarily have to install ATHENA before plugging in the dongle. The USB Sentinel SuperPro key has to be removed before installing or reinstalling the driver. Otherwise the installation of the USB driver will fail. If ATHENA cannot find the USB-key because of the reasons mentioned above you have to reinstall the driver and install it again afterwards. Please read this PDF file for detailed information.

  • Difference between ATHENA single and network licenses.

What is actually the difference between the ATHENA single and network licenses and what are the advantages and disadvantages?

The ATHENA single license is not just suitable for use on a single computer, but can also be installed on a network drive, e.g. on the server. However, ATHENA can then only be used on the computer onto which the dongle has been plugged and consequently only by one user at any one time. If the ATHENA single license is to be used on another computer, the dongle is simply changed over to the other computer. And the single license could, for example, also be installed on a notebook for working on the move. The network license on the other hand is normally installed in a number of computers in a network and only has a network dongle, which detects the number of licenses and therefore controls the maximum number of users working with ATHENA at any one time. If then, for example, in an extensive network for ten users, the workstations are to be equipped with ATHENA, but more than eight users rarely or never work with ATHENA simultaneously, then an eight-station ATHENA network license may be just the right solution. If emphasis is placed on the easy maintenance of ATHENA, e.g. with regard to upgrades and user adaptation, and a central installation on a network drive is required, this is possible both with the single license as well as the network license.

  • Preparing data for transfer to flixoAT

I am trying to transfer a section which I generated myself to flixoAT using the function "Thermal Analysis", but so far without success. What is the cause of this?

The following conditions must be fulfilled in order that a trouble-free transfer to flixoAT can occur: All self-generated surfaces containing relevant material properties must be represented by closed polylines. Surfaces should not overlap, but only touch at the edges (a classic example is a seal contacting the glass). Glass layers composed of a number of single layers should be combined to form a single layer (single rectangle). ATHENA objects (e.g. insulation, sheets, blocks, etc.) are automatically recognized and do not need to be reworked.

  • Setting up a printer under ATHENA

How can I set up printers under ATHENA for "quick plotting"?

The setting up of up to six printers / plotters is comprehensively described in the manual in the chapter "Plotter configuration".

  • Release codes are not accepted after installation

After the installation of ATHENA, I enter the release codes and they are not accepted. What can cause this?

A prerequisite for the entry of the codes is that the serial number must be displayed in the dialog box "Authorizing of program sections". If this is not the case (serial number "000000") the dongle driver is not active or the dongle is defective. Furthermore the codes must be fully and identically entered character by character, i.e.: Upper / lower case, spaces and special characters such as "period" and "comma" must be taken into account.

  • ATHENA objects do not appear in pure AutoCad

If I pass my ATHENA 2000 ARX drawing on to an AutoCad user, the ATHENA objects (e.g. standard parts, sheet sections, insulation, etc.) do not appear. How can the ATHENA objects be displayed?

In order that ATHENA objects are displayed in pure AutoCAD, two requirements must be fulfilled: For users who save the drawing, the AutoCAD variable PROXYGRAPHICS must be set to the value 1. For users who open the drawing, the AutoCAD system variable PROXYSHOW must be set to the value 1. This is how you set the values: In the command line of AutoCAD enter PROXYGRAPHICS or PROXYSHOW as the case may be and then 1. There is another way: the AutoCAD user loads the ATHENA Object Enabler from the download section of our web site. This Object Enabler enables ATHENA objects to be handled in pure AutoCAD: the copying of ATHENA objects, the display of the properties and the use of the object snap.

  • Oversize paper format for plotter

I choose the A0 paper size in the plot menu, but the borders are missing when I plot the drawing out. What should I do to ensure the full paper size is plotted?

Choose the plotter in the plot menu (AutoCad command "plot"). Activate the "properties" button. Now click on "user specific properties". Now the button "other sizes". Here you can specify sizes for up to 5 users. For A0, specify for example 900 x 1200 mm. Now click OK in all dialogue boxes until you reach a dialog box asking for a PC3 filename. Here, click on the the option "save changes in the following file" and give a file name. You now have the option of choosing user defined paper sizes in the plot dialog box, and the borders will now be plotted.

  • Setup dialogue box appears every time I start ATHENA 14.1

When I install ATHENA 14.1, I choose all the parameters in the setup dialog box and confirm each one with OK, and despite this, whenever I start ATHENA 14.1, the setup dialogue box appears again. How can I avoid this?

Once the setup parameters have been confirmed, the current drawing must be saved, or another drawing opened and then saved. Then the parameters will be saved in the file ATHENA14.CFG.

  • Incorrect tablet function (cursor shifted sideways)

I use the Wintab driver version 5.2 for Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 and a Summasketch III Professional tablet. When I choose a command on the tablet, it carries out the command on the left of it instead. What can I do to correct this?

The tablet can be configured using the icon TabletWorks, which can be found in Windows System Control. The tablet format can be changed in the "Settings" window, and must be changed to UIOF. The tablet must then be reconfigured in ATHENA (menu: ATHENA/Tablet new configure).

  • ATHENA without a tablet?

I want to use ATHENA 14 with mouse and toolboxes only. Does this work?

No. It is possible with versions 14.1 and later. The same applies to AutoCAD 14.1. You can receive this update free of charge from us.

  • Incorrect tablet function (pick button)

The tablet does not always work properly with AutoCad 14/ATHENA 14. The cross hairs can be moved, but pick button does not always activate commands from the tablet. What is the reason for this?

Carry out the command "initialise Tablet", which can be found in the pull-down menu under "ATHENA". The tablet is then fully functional again.

  • Summasketch tablet driver does not work

I want to work with a Summasketch Professional II/III tablet, using AutoCad 14/ATHENA 14 and Windows NT 4.0. The tablet driver supplied (Wintab) does not function correctly. What can I do?

Download the Summasketch driver version 2.1 ( from our downloads page, and install it. The driver can then be configured using the "Summasoft" icon, which can be found in Windows System Control. Important: set up the buttons as follows: Button 1 (yellow): left mouse button Button 2 (green): none Button 3 (blue): none Button 4 (white): right mouse buttonThe tablet driver must be set up in AutoCad as "Wintab compatible"
